Introduction

The CyberPower PR2000ERT2U is a 2000VA/2000W line-interactive UPS in a 2U chassis that mounts in a rack or stands as a tower. It sits at the point where a UPS stops being a desk accessory and becomes infrastructure: small servers, a NAS, network gear, or a workstation you cannot afford to have drop mid-task.

Design and Build Quality

The chassis is plain black metal, deeper and heavier than a consumer tower UPS, and the rack ears and tower feet both ship in the box. That 2U rack-or-tower flexibility is the practical selling point — the same unit works in a half-height rack or standing on the floor beside a desk.

Front Panel

The front panel carries an LCD readout showing load, battery level, input and output voltage, and estimated runtime, with buttons to cycle through the readings. It is genuinely useful when you are working out how much headroom a load actually leaves.

Rear Panel

The rear panel has ten IEC C13 outlets, an EPO (emergency power off) port, RJ45 data line protection, and a slot for an optional network management card. Software and Connectivity

PowerPanel Business Edition handles monitoring, graceful shutdown and event logging over USB or serial. It runs on Windows, Linux and as a VMware appliance, which matters if the UPS is protecting a hypervisor host.

Network Management

SNMP/HTTP monitoring is available but not included — it needs CyberPower’s optional RMCARD in the expansion slot. Retailer listings often blur this, so treat network management as an extra line item rather than a bundled feature.

Data Line Protection

RJ45 surge protection is included for a network run passing through the unit. Coaxial protection is not on this model.

The PR2000ERT2U earns its place if you need a genuine 2000W of protected, voltage-regulated power in 2U and you value the rack-or-tower flexibility. The power factor of 1.0 is the specification that separates it from cheaper 2000VA units that quietly cap out at 1400W.

Skip it if you need long runtime, if you need SNMP and have not budgeted the RMCARD on top, or if your load is a single desktop — a 1500VA tower unit costs considerably less and does that job.

Worth it if you are protecting infrastructure and need the full 2000W. Skip it if you are protecting a PC.
